Many of our current issues may be rooted in earlier trauma of some kind such as being criticized, abused or bullied in some way.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an approach designed for working with distressing or traumatic memories. The theory behind EMDR is that some psychological difficulties are the result blocked or unprocessed memories which continue to cause distress in the here and now. It can be a way of kickstarting a natural healing process and heal from the inside out.

The evidence base shows that EMDR is an effective treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). However over time I have found that it is helpful with other difficulties, such as anxiety or low self esteem, depression etc.

EMDR is a structured therapy and there are several stages which you will be guided through. Therapy would include a thorough history taking as well as preparation for the processing itself.
